Are you an empathic leader?

Are you an empathic leader?

Leaders have different leadership styles, often with one being dominant. However, we can adapt our approach for different situations.
It simply means we adapt our behavior to different circumstances.

But being an empathic leader is not something I would use just sometimes.
It’s an ability I would consistently use, assuming we have an honest team and a foundation of trust.

And why is that?

We talk about Gen Z a lot and how they can not adapt to the new work environments.
They are just not equipped to handle real life because they have been brought up in a protective environment.

But just judging them isn’t beneficial for us, for the team, or for the overall well being of the workplace.
Instead we should give it a moment, try to understand where a person is coming from, what are the reasoning for them acting the way they do.

A lot of people would say: “I don’t have time to coddle all these people. There is work to be done.” 😡

Yet, being judgmental and not giving the benefit of the doubt can lower productivity. Honestly, it just feeds our Ego.

Simply put, be curious 🤔 about your team members.
Truly, not just for the sake of it.

Listen and maybe you’ll find out things about your team members you haven’t heard before, that will change your mind about them.

Also, there are steps you can take to relate to Gen Z:
💻 Embrace technology
Gen Z is accustomed to technology, and incorporating it into the workplace enhances efficiency and engagement.

🗣️ Provide feedback and recognition
Giving them feedback provides that they understand what they are doing well and where to improve.

📚 Encourage learning and development
Gen Z is eager to acquire new skills and appreciates employers who invest in their professional growth.
