Moving forward or looking back? 😟
There is always a moment with my clients when we do look back at some issues that could have been resolved differently.
But only for a brief moment, so we can understand what the real issue is or was.
After that, we need to move forward in search of resolutions.
But why are we stuck in the past sometimes?
🔹 We may be attached to this way of thinking because it brought us some kind of reward in the past, and we identify with it.
🔹 There may be unresolved issues from the past.
🔹 We may fear what change will bring, so we stay in the familiar.
🔹 Doing things differently can sometimes be painful, so we prefer to stick to old ways of functioning.
And there can be other reasons why we ruminate about the past.
Sometimes we can break away from these patterns ourselves, and sometimes we need help.
However we go about it, it’s important to know that it’s normal.
We all do it sometimes.
The key is not to stay stuck for too long.
💡 Instead, find a resolution, move toward your new goal, reframe your perspective, and practice gratitude and positivity.
